After they have crossed over 1000 miles during Tour de Branch, all over the UK, the RS Components team has raised nearly £250,000 for Children with Cancer UK. We’re grateful that we had the opportunity to be a part of their journey, thanks to Polaris.

If you haven’t had the chance to donate to this cause yet, you can do so now, by visiting the donation page.

Tour de Branch with Polaris

The RS team had 60 dedicated cyclists, going all over the country. They started their journey from Aberdeen in Scotland, and ended it in the RS headquarters in London, on June 19th.

You can see some of the images from the road below:

Polaris Dashboard

Like we’ve mentioned at the start of Tour de Branch, two Polaris trackers were added on two bicycles.

Both were reporting the current location of the bikes, but one reported temperature, humidity, and pressure readings from the road, while the other one was set to report air quality data.

This way we learned what the conditions were during the whole journey.

That data is being processed by the RS Components team at this moment, so stay tuned for the full report.

Polaris is a Python programmable open IoT platform, designed for remote logging and Cloud applications. As you can see from Tour de Branch, it is an excellent GPS/GLONASS vehicle tracker. It is available with 2G, 3G, LTE, NB-IOT modem. The Polaris application is available in Python Zerynth or Arduino.

Polaris is Zerynth-powered and Python programmable.

Thanks to the Zerynth license onboard you can program it in Python right out of the box. Zerynth also allows C/Python hybrid programming.
